Editorial Review:
Amazon.com: Sharon Stone plays the title character, a gun moll with a heart of gold who takes a 7-year-old boy under her wing when her mobster friends threaten to rub him out (after killing his entire family). This remake of John Cassavetes's l980 film should probably have been nipped in the bud; Stone is totally miscast in the title role. As for the other characters, they don't inspire much sympathy or even interest in the audience, not even the cute kid. Why do directors feel the need to do remakes of good movies? As problematic as Cassavetes's films tend to be, Sidney Lumet should have known better than to take this on. Sharon Stone fans may enjoy this film, but there are plenty of disappointing problems that tend to get in the way. --Jerry Renshaw

Rating: - Great Remake
It is what it is another Sharon Stone classic. I really like Gena Rowlands as an actress however, I think Sharon Stone did a better job at portraying Gloria. I really like the part when she comes home after being released from jail and the scene with her boyfriend & his goons in the Apartment. She acts & talks just like a tough moll gal from New York. I love this movie, that's why I bought it to add to my collections of DVD's so I can watch it over & over when ever I want. Sharon Stone ... Read More
Rating: - Moving & outstanding movie
I thought everything about this was excellent. I found it to be extremely touching at a deep level. I'm not really sure what movie the people who reviewed this negatively watched. I thought that Sharon Stone's performance in this was outstanding. The screenplay & characters were written with extreme sensitivity & realness. By and large they weren't meant to be sympathetic. That's what makes this special. A beautiful film.
Rating: - Sharon Stone is too good for this movie
One of the worst films ever. I don't know why such a movie must be made. May be studios don't know how to spend their money. Sharnon Stone's character as a mother is very, very riduclous. It isn't worth watching even one time.
Rating: - Fantastic
Sharon Stone and Jeremy Northam are outstanding in this movie. Their performance is absolutely fantastic. Not only does Sharon take on Jeremy but also finds the courage within herself to rescue a little boy who finds out that both of his parents were killed.
Rating: - Terrible Movie
While the original Gloria may not be one of my favorite movies, it was very good. Gena Rowlands was amazing in the role. Those are tough shoes to fill and Sharon Stone completely failed.
There is absolutley no chemistry between Sharon Stone and the kid. The acting was second rate and Sharon Stone's New York accent was unbearable.
The 1980 version is recommended.
