First he has you lie on your back and concentrate on breathing. Then, still lying on your back, he leads you through a series of easy movements that stretch and remove tension from the lower back. Next you roll over and lie on your stomach, continuing with easy back releasers such as the cobra, locust, and child's pose. Final stretches are done lying on your back again. The whole routine is very gentle--no contortions, no 'take it to the limit,' just mild stretching. If you have low-back tension at the end of the day, or if your job keeps you in one position, this video would be pleasant to use when you get home, and it's short enough to fit into busy schedules. I love this video. It is clear, gentle, instructive and respectful. It is not about the instructor "showing off" or moving fast and fancy; it is about showing the poses and breathing and encouraging the student through the gentle methods. Great teacher and great video. I agree that it will probably be most attractive for beginners or for those needing to return to a more gentle practice. This yoga video benefits your body as well as your soul.Dr.Larry Payne uses his skill in asana practice as well as his talent to make you feel peaceful.I highly recommend it to my yoga students.
Rating: - Relaxing, but a little too simple
Larry Payne does a great job of leading the exercises and explaining the poses. His voice is calm and relaxing. The relaxation pose at the end is as good as any live yoga class I've ever taken. However, I found the number of poses to be too limited. I have minor back problems, but exercise and stretch frequently. Since I've done yoga before, I found this tape to be VERY basic, and probably meant for someone who's never done yoga before. Less flexible folks will definitely find it useful. It ... Read More
