Rating: - A classic horror/revenge with a twist
This movie tricked me because it was about a cop who just went insane.the way its presented in the movie though is much better.the maniac cop seeking revenge for what happened to him in jail was brillient.the violence, blood, gore are all top notch as is the pacing of the story.i wish there was more flash back scenes about what happend to him but thats ok.bruce campbell was great in this as he is in all of his movies.this movie has something for everyone...horror,slasher,zombie and bruce campbell can ... Rating: - Pure trash that's enjoyable to a point
Maniac Cop has never had too warm a place in my heart as it has in many other's, but this flick from writer/producer Larry Cohen and director William Lustig (Maniac) serves as being enjoyable trash in it's own merits. Genre stalwart Tom Atkins stars as a veteran detective who thinks that a rash of murders are being perpetrated by a cop thought long dead, while the department thinks they've caught their man with a young patrolman (Bruce "Evil Dead" Campbell) that fits the profile. Rating: - You have the right to remain silent..........Forever!.
I didn't make that up, thats the actual tagline for this decent low budget 1980's slasher flick/cop thriller. Maniac Cop has some great and thrilling moments along with some cheesy and over the top death scenes and the film has a pretty good b-movie cast which includes Bruce Campbell as a wrongfully accused cop named Jack Forrest framed for the murder of his wife and you might also recognise the other actors like Richard Roundtree from Shaft who plays the police commissioner along with Tom Atkins from The ... Rating: - To diserve, maim , and kill the innocent
And boy he does just that. Imagine a cop killing a woman who is being pursued by muggers. Talk about having your priorities crossed. Maniac Cop is about a rogue cop who is mad at the way he was treated by the system.
He stalks law abiding civilians. He eventually gets the name maniac cop and people begin to be so fearful that they start shooting down cops. The acting was pretty solid to me. The death scenes were ok but there was nothing to really get excited about. Its not very strong on gore ... Read More
Rating: - A cop killing innocent people? You mean a maniac cop?
First of all, let me clarify that the four star rating only qualifies in the genre of slightly-schlocky gore. For those of you that don't appreciate this type of movie, it's more like one star. But if you're looking to buy the DVD and reading this review, I have a feeling you're into this.
That being said, this is top quality when it comes to off-kilter horror action. A monstrous killer dressed like a cop is on the loose in New York, killing innocent people instead of criminals. One cop lets the ... Read More
