Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
Quirky is the keyword here--but quirky in a highly entertaining way. Directed by Bob Rafelson, this film stars Jeff Bridges as a not-so-good ol' boy. Wealthy and aimless, he is involved in a real estate deal with a group of high-powered partners--and his only responsibility in the whole shebang is to evict the tenants of one building that needs to be torn down and has a gym filled with body builders. Disconnected from everything in his life, he feels a bond to these outsiders, particularly the surprisingly articulate, fiddle-playing Arnold Schwarzenegger (in one of his first film roles). He also finds himself attracted to the blue-collar gym employee played by Sally Field and so becomes an impediment to his own business partners. Oddly funny and affecting, a sleeper that never had much of a release. --Marshall Fine

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Stay Away!
I thought this was a romance drama with Jeff Bridges and Sally Field. It was the dumbest movie I've ever seen! I couldn't figure out what they were doing. "The Governator," Arnold Schwarzenegger is a philosopher/ body builder and Mr. Olympia contestestant. I couldn't understand what he was saying. Save your money. Buy King Kong ('76) instead.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Stay Hungry - No Sustenance Here!
I'm sure this movie was written just to showcase 3 great stars: Jeff Bridges, Sally Field, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's a story about a guy trying to save his gym from being taken by the bad guys. Ho hum! It's a riot to see the biggest of the big (Arnold) standing next to the smallest of the small (Sally Field). She's so cute! Nothing much here except 2 great movie stars and early Arnold with packed-on muscles.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - I stay hungry
Noticing Arnold was in this movie, was what drew my attention to Stay Hungry. The backstory to some of the characters I felt was kind of unnecessary. What I mean was that they could have done better. It was an entertaining movie nonetheless. I just think the title of the movie could have had a little more focus.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Avoid!
The editorial review here on Amazon said "Stay Hungry" never had much of a release. And it may be for a good reason. The movie never decides whether it's a drama or a comedy. Most of the time it's drama and occasionally it switches to farce. Unfortunately neither the drama or the comedy parts are in the least entertaining. The actors do a good job but the script is boring and pointless, except for the one scene, where Scatman Crothers yells at Jeff Bridges. Fans of Bridges, Field or Schwarzenegger ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - under rated film
Belive it or not arnold won a golden globe for this film. I shows him as well as several top bodybuilder from that era including Franco Columbu, and Ken Waller. See an early film with robert england "freddy Kruger" as Arnold's "grease man" LOL
