Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Admittedly a loose retelling, but a wonderfully fun and fluffy romp
I love Jane Austen. I love her and her work dearly for its clever wit, plot, construction, etc. I truly do love Jane Austen.

And this fluffy mind romp? I loved it as well. I said to myself "This is a very loose retelling set in the vicinity of a religious school designed as a pure comedy" and I loved it.

So yes, it is a loose retelling and some reviews have complained that not enough fodder was taken from the original work. But, it's not a six-hour film, so I'll give ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - 'Pink' Pride and Prejudice a modern delight...
The first time I saw this movie, I started it over at the beginning as soon as it was through. My family watched it four times in a few days, and jumped on buying it the first (and subsequent) time we saw it in the store - so we own a few copies!

Jane Austen's marvelous insight into human nature and relationships never ceases to amaze me in its applicability. Even my brothers are entertained by the wit and comedy in her stories. Pride and Prejudice: A Latter Day Comedy, does not ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Awful
I thought this was a horrid rendition of "Pride and Prejudice". The lead actress was terrible. She can't act. I nearly fell asleep trying to watch this. THey should have stuck to the traditional telling of the tale, or at least gotten someone who has the slightest bit of talent. Complete waste of time.

Yes, the title is "Pride and Prejudice" and some of the characters share the same name as those in Jane Austen's classic novel. However, that is where the similarities to this movie and the novel part.

The fact that the parents and Darcy's aunt are deemed superfluous and are written out - considering it is they whom are sort of the frame work that Darcy and Elizabeth rebel against, so as not to be as unhappy themselves - tells me right there that this movie loses its core. Sure, the society ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Creative and fun escapism
Chill if you're an Austen nut, like we are, and don't expect anything out of this movie. Just buy your ticket and take the ride. There's a lot of effort put into what would be normally classified as a "low budget B- Movie". The actors are attractive, the music original and super, the script is a twist on Austen that's clever and "Why not?". We've got the book and the other versions if we need them. Enjoy the change: it's meant to be lighthearted and funny, clean and romantic.
P.S.: It takes ... Read More
