Rating: - A lot of fun!
Beautiful film quality, and the interviews with the old roadshowmen, Dave Freidman and Dan Sonney, are hilarious. Ned Beatty is the perfect choice as host/narrator. A lot of fun from beginning to end.
Rating: - *** should be *****
Robin Simmons comments are right on. However, I don't understand why he would give only *** to a movie he raves about.
Rating: - Fun but not terribly informative
As a fan of exploitation films, I was excited to see this documentary. Unfortunately it is merely fun, without any clear thesis. Friedman and Dan Sonney "bicycled" their prints from town to town across heartland America. With titles like, "Child Bride," "They Wear No Clothes," "She Shoulda Said No," "Strip Tease Girl," "Reefer Madness," "Dance Hall Racket," "Victims of Passion" "Tia Juana After Midnite," Flesh Merchant," and "A Virgin In Hollywood" they packed drive-ins in the sticks, small town main street ...
