A promising comedy that goes awry all too early, But I'm a Cheerleader concerns a misunderstood high school kid (Natasha Lyonne) whose parents send her to a harsh, homosexual-rehabilitation camp despite a lack of evidence that she's gay. Ruled with an iron fist by a fascist counselor (Cathy Moriarty), the clinic only drives Lyonne's character toward an attraction to a rebellious tomboy (Clea DuVall), though screenwriter Brian Wayne Peterson and director Jamie Babbit are curiously intent on keeping the two apart and depriving the audience of other comic possibilities. Meanwhile, hoary clichés abound: prancing boys, butch gays, lipstick lesbians. Despite a fine cast full of young talent, and cameo appearances by Julie Delpy and RuPaul Charles, this attempt to skewer a present-day trend in 'curing' homosexuals of their sexual preferences is flattened by stereotypes and unimaginative thinking. --Tom Keogh

This movie is so funny! Its the most weirdest coming out story ever. A movie every lesbian much watch.

I Bought the DVD because everyone's saying nice things about the movie, I think it was long, boring and not really funny. I like it okay but Im a bit disappointed, I don't think I would watch it again unless my friends want me to watch it with her.

This is my favorite movie. It's hilarious and has a great cast. It's a little hard to catch everything the first time, though, so I recommend watching it 2-3 times before making your final judgment.
Rating: - Campy and Sweet
This movie is so campy but sweet at the same time. It plays off of the stereotypes of the GLBT community and how ridiculous they are. It also has an amazing soundtrack. Too bad it was never released! Natasha Lyonne is a sweet but misguided teen in a "typical" suburban world where any difference is unacceptable. Rating: - Gay and straight stereotypes lampooned.
This glorious film lampoons both straight and gay stereotypes, working as comedy with a rock hard centre. Megan (Natasha Lyonne) and Graham (Clea Duvall) are thrown together in the absurd surroundings of a camp aiming to turn gay boys and girls straight by relentlessly forcing heterosexuality down their throats.
