Amazon.com: If you love the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, D.A. Pennebaker, Chris Hegedus, and Nick Doob's exhilarating concert film Down from the Mountain will be sheer heaven. And if you're new to bluegrass and 'old-time mountain-style' music, the performances (also on CD) will be a revelation. John Hartford, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Gillian Welch, the Cox family, the venerable Ralph Stanley, and other traditional and alt-country artists who contributed the music to the Coen brothers' spaced odyssey gathered onstage in May 2000 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame. Interviews and rehearsal footage set the stage for this stupendous concert, highlights of which include '(Didn't Leave) Nobody but the Baby' by the sirens Harris, Welch, and Krauss; the Coxes' '(Will There Be) Any Stars in My Crown'; and Stanley's haunting 'O Death.' As one performer recommends, 'Just ease in, sit down, and listen.' It could be your salvation. --Donald Liebenson

Rating: - It could have been a brilliant DVD.
Unfortunately the production looks as though it was done by the Beverly Hillbillies. Buy Alison Krauss & Union Station - Live, then compare to this. It pales by comparison. I liked it, but I was frustrated and angered at the editing. It's still a good concert but the needless interruption of performances to view backstage was, without a doubt, the worst thing I've ever seen. It makes the Cox family look stupid. Maybe that was on purpose. They should apologize to Chris Thomas King and the ... Read More
Rating: - A great Show
Its a pleasure to see so much talent on show at a concert. There is a good bit of introductory material and then a straightforward concert without pyrotechnics or disconcerting camera work. For one who saw this on tour, it was a real nostalgia trip as well. Highly recommended and share it with your friends.Bluegrass

Rating: - Great documentary
I truly enjoyed the music from "O Brother, Where Art Thou," but this concert and the backstage interviews with the performers made it even better.
