Editorial Review:
Description: In 1965, a team of talented Hollywood filmmakers set out to Arizona, including director Norman Foster, star Joseph Cotten and producer Stephen Booth. The film company faced desert heat, cliffhanger trails, raging rivers, and dozens of other severe obstacles to film this loving tale of a free-spirited burro, a boy and a mountain lion hunter. Brighty runs free, until he finds a friend in Old Timer, a gold prospector. Just when their search for riches pays off, an escaping horse thief ambushes the old man and attempts to use Brighty to find a way out of the wilderness canyon with the gold. Wise little Brighty manages to escape his captor, and to reach Old Timer's friends, Uncle Jim Owen and his 10-year-old nephew, Homer. Together, the intrepid trio of man, boy and burro set out on a thrilling and dangerous wilderness journey, to bring the wicked horse thief to justice. 121 minutes.

Rating: - Cute Family Movie
After a recent trip to the Grand Canyon, this movie was a pleasant surprise--capturing much of the beauty of the Canyon. It's a predictable tale, but nothing offensive and just a "feel good" movie. The scenery is worth the price, along with bonus narrative of how the movie was filmed. Recommend as light entertainment with beautiful scenery.
Rating: - DVD of Brighty of the Grand Canyon
I purchased this for my grandson aged 8, his interest at this time is in mules and donkeys and he just loved it, it is the usual childrens story happy, sad then everything turns out well. I enjoyed watching it with him.
Rating: - Brighty movie not exactly a bright spot...
Brighty (played by Jiggs, who belonged to the renowned children's author, Marguerite Henry) is a wily burro who lives and works in the Grand Canyon. In the movie he helps an old prospector (Dick Foran) find gold, but the true story of Brighty is actually much more entertaining: The famous burro lived in the canyon from approximately 1892 until 1922,and locals gave him the name Bright Angel after the creek that flowed into the Canyon from the North Rim. He spent summers carrying water from the creek ... Read More
Rating: - Classic Family Story
This is a classic family adventure that was all shot in and around the Grand Canyon, with a great cast of actors. The photography alone is worth the price! The DVD has a number of extra content chapters, including a interview with the producer, which details the production logistics involved in shooting a feature film in the canyon. Brighty and some of the characters in the film are based on real historical people and events at the turn of the 19th century, in fact there is a life size bronze statue ... Read More
Rating: - A great family film? No way!
There's hardly any substance to "Brighty". It's ostensibly about a boy and his burro but they literally spend only a few minutes together during the entire film!
An old man stumbles across the burro and befriends him. Well, the guy is looking for gold and wouldn't you just know it...the burro helps him find some. The burro is inspecting a nearby lizard and the old guy goes over to take a look at what's going on. Improbably enough, there's a gold nugget right in front of the burro's nose ... Read More
