Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Superb
This movie is great. It has Bela Lugosi in it so what more can one say. However, in addition to Bela Lugosi, the transfer to dvd is just really, really fine. The picture is just incredible as is the sound. The soundtrack is real too and goes very well with the music. It was composed by the classical composer, Castelnuovo-Tedesco.
What I found most fascinating in the movie was the role of the troubled werewolf and his relationship with those around him. The movie is in large part about ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Universal horror war tale
The reason I bought this DVD of the movie is because I wanted closed-caption benefits in it unlike the VHS one I own which doesn't have any, and I'm a deaf person who depends on capitioned dialogue & backtrack explanations. I recommend this one as a good viewing of both World Wars in the vampire saga as well as a bnous to hearing-impaired people!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Bela is the fella'
I can't tell you how many times I have watched this movie, but never get tired of it. It is one of the better remakes / spinoffs of the original Dracula ( 1931 ) film. For old movie buffs or people who like good old fashioned entertainment this one is a winner. Great storyline, cast of characters, and Nina Foch is a beautiful added attraction as Drac's love
"interest". Can't go wrong on a 'stay at home' friday night with one. It's even safe for the kiddies to view. Get it !!!!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Return of the Vampire
I have loved this movie for years. With the exception of Dracula, this is one of Bella's best. It has a vampire, a werewolf, and a war. A British lady scientist really gives it to Bella.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - "Yes, alive, with the blood of his victims."
After appearing in a slew of poverty row features throughout the 1930s and into the 1940s there's slight sense of renewal in seeing Bela Lugosi donning the role of a vampire in the film Return of the Vampire (1944). Oh sure, his character here isn't the same as the one he most famously portrayed in Tod Browning's Dracula (1931), but it might as well be...directed by Lew Landers (The Raven, Condemned Women), based on an idea from Kurt Neumann (Kronos, The Fly), the film stars, as I've mentioned, Bela ...
