Editorial Review:

Description:
On a small island, the choices of a few can change the tides of the world. This compelling hit British drama series, produced by London Weekend Television, details the overwhelming pain and frustration experienced by the Channel Islands inhabitants during the German occupation of World War II. The uneasy relationship maintained by the islanders and the Nazi's is continually threatened as constrictive regulations dampen morale, accusations of rape add fear and suspicion, while murders, spying, and a plot to assassinate Hitler, entangle high-ranking officials from both sides. This is the second series (13 episodes) of the masterfully acted series starring Alfred Burke (The House on Garibaldi Street, Longitude) as the German Military Commandant charged with maintaining order and Bernard Hosfall (Braveheart, Gandhi) as the chosen representative for the islanders, both of whom will make choices that could cause a turn in the direction of the war. Featuring extraordinary writing, period style cinematography and archival footage, Enemy At The Door remains one of the finest World War II dramas ever produced.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - WWII video collection
This series portrays how life really was in the British Channel Islands during WWII - good actors and very realisitic scenes. So enjoyed this series.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Is there all it is?
Wish they'd made more of these stories.
The ending is like... not really an ending.
Assume that maybe there are more coming?

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - revisionist history and boring
I gotta tell you this BBC movie put me to sleep. What a horrible boring film. (Volume 2). Really they want me to believe that the germans sent their fancy car around to help a british woman with her sick daughter. You must be kidding. IT was an occupation but this film seems preoccupied with how 'nice' some of the german officers were. Revisionist history... You know those SS and german officers weren't all that bad. IT made me sick.
I don't recommend it at all.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Bernard J.
My sole objection was that the German characters were so "British" -the producers should have used German actors with subtitles-speaking to each other in German, and to the Islanders in German accented English. Will there be a Series 3? Seems not-I think the 2 Series go back to the 1970s.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic
Is there a third series and if so when is it coming out?
Enemy at The Door shows the complex and human side of the Nazis occupation of the Chanel Islands. The entire series is compelling viewing and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in WW2 in the European Theatre.
