Amazon.com: Anybody seen Keanu? The action star of Speed opted out of this overbearing sequel, which finds costar Sandra Bullock in love with another guy (Jason Patric) and in trouble aboard a cruise ship under the control of a mad extortionist (Willem Dafoe). Speed director Jan de Bont is back at the helm for part 2, but even he seems to have forgotten that what made the first film work was the simplicity of its hook (the bomb, the bus that can't drive below 50 mph, the handful of sympathetic passengers, etc.). Speed 2 is all about hugeness: big ship, lots of places to get into trouble, and so on. Even with an eye-popping, endless finale of the vessel crashing into port (and causing mondo destruction), there is nothing about this movie that is remotely as involving as its predecessor. --Tom Keogh

Rating: - What can I say?
Forget that Speed 2 doesn't beat Speed. Forget that Keanu Reeves doesn't return as Jack Traven. What matters it this: Sandra Bullock is great, William DaFue is just as great, and Jason Patric is also pretty good! The visuals are nothing special, but are still entertaining and enjoyable to watch. It's not a visual feast, like Speed 1, but it most certainly is a suspenseful thriller with some really good acting. I've always like Sandra Bullock, and this just widened my liking of her. Jan De Bont is ... Read More
Rating: - Impressive!
This movie, although not perfect, is pretty close! Speed came near the brink of perfection, and Speed 2 took a step back, even though it was just a baby step. Sandra Bullock reprises her role, and does so fantastically, though Keanu Reeves isn't there this time, and Jason Patric is filling his shoes this time around. He does so acceptably, and although he's not terrific, he's not unbearably painful to watch either.
The action scenes make up for the loss of Keanu Reeves, and William DaFue ... Read More
Rating: - Super!
Although this movie takes a little while to get moving, once it sets off, there's no turning back! This movie is hard to keep your eyes off of, mainly due to the air-tight action scenes and splendid acting, mainly due to Sandra Bullock and William DaFue (Jason Patric isn't horrible, he just isn't as good as Keanu Reeves).
This movie is filled with some really cool scenes, such as the scene where Jason has to save the deaf girl from the flooding and when the ship is crashing through the town! ... Read More
Rating: - Great!
Great acting. Great story line. Great direction. Great visuals. Great movie. Great Sandra Bullock.
Speed 2: Cruise Control.
(If you can't interpret that, it means that I highly recommend this film).

Amazing.
These words are basically perfect for describing this film. I have heard so many people give this movie crap, and I don't appreciate that! Really, I don't see what the fuss is about! If you wanted a movie that was better than the first Speed, then you shouldn't have seen this in the first place! Of course it's not going to live up to the first Speed! You just have to acknowledge that, and after that... it's time to move on and enjoy ... Read More
