Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
With the surprise success--both critical and commercial--of Robocop, it was inevitable that a sequel would emerge (actually, two sequels). But this follow-up lacked the dyspeptically funny vision of filmmaker Paul Verhoeven and wound up skimming the surface to repeat only the most superficial elements of the original: the big, clunky hero (played by Peter Weller), the ultra-violence (minus a dark sense of humor), and the plethora of action sequences. What plot there is deals with the corporation that runs the cops and its two-pronged attempt to squeeze every dime out of the populace and the city: create a new drug crisis (with an incredibly addictive synthetic drug the corporation manufactures, spread by a charismatic drug lord) and then attack with a bigger robot, one that eliminates Robocop at the same time. Would that they had. --Marshall Fine

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Rewiew of Robocop 2
Good movie, but as often happens the first is the better one. Haven't seen the third but i've heard that's a lot worse

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Reviews are for Robocop 2
Just wanted to say all the reviews below refer to Robocop 2. Not this chapter in the mini-series.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not all sequels are THAT bad people........
Okay, okay, we get it! This isn't the first film. It's not ever going to be the first film, nore can it ever match up to the first Robocop. All of you hardcore "elite" fans need to get a life. Robocop 2 is a good sequel that follows the original the best it can. What people don't seem to understand about some sequels is all the trouble they can go through during production. Robocop 2 does have it's flaws here and there but no more than any other movie sequel. For the most part, it follows ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - "Patience, Lewis. We're only human."
Though Paul Verhoeven's original "Robocop" didn't beg for a sequel, or even ask for one, as a very successful science fiction film made in the 1980s it comes as no surprise that one (and later two) eventually popped up. Seeing as Verhoeven wasn't attached, it also comes as no surprise that "Robocop 2" is not the masterpiece that its predecessor was. "Robocop 2" has its strengths, in fact a good deal of them, but its flaws prove stronger.

At the helm is Irvin Kershner, unquestionably ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Buy another Verhoeven film instead.
My advice to anyone who, having seen Robocop, is looking for a decent follow-up - look for something else by Verhoeven. Total Recall, perhaps, which stars the bloke who played Dick Jones in a similar role and is similarly interesting, OTT and makes you think. Why shouldn't you bother with R2? Well, let's see...

On paper there should be no reason to slate this film. Decent director? Check. Commentary on society? Check. Continuation of the themes from the first movie, same kinda tone? Check. ... Read More
