Harry Nilsson wrote the entirely hummable songs (including the hit, 'Me and My Arrow') for this charming, 1971 animation feature about a boy with a round head who is banished from the land of pointy-headed people. An allegory about nonconformism presented in a delightful way, this is a treat for everybody. Ringo Starr, the late Nilsson's old pal, narrates. --Tom Keogh

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Still great, after all these years
The version I remember from Public Television had Dustin Hoffman doing the voice-over, but Ringo Starr also does an excellent job. The songs and all the other voices remain the same, as well as the charm of the story.

Highly recommended.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - brings back memories
This movie had an impact when it first came out. Everyone should be required to watch it now. The world would be a better place.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Just like I remembered
I used to watch this movie when I was little out at my grandparent's house. I loved it then, and I love it now. I didn't know it had been released on DVD until recently, but I am glad I found it. I am planning on introducing it to my nephews and nieces in the near future.

The songs are fabulous, and the animation is great. My favorite is "Me and My Arrow".

I did notice I caught a lot more of the subtleness of this move now than when I was little.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Hey This a Fun Family movie
Well if you are looking for a wonderful children's video look no further than The Point. An excellent animated tale about a boy named oblio, who is very unique and fun with no pointed head in the land of point with his dog arrow have adventures. When oblio gets banished to pointless forest for not being born with any point on his head and goes on a journey of discovery, quite fun for a family with young kids to watch. My only wish would to have all Narrators from all broadcasts of The Point on the next ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My favorite kid's movie
I'm dating myself but I saw this movie with a bunch a friends when it first aired on ABC in 1971, we were all hippies. At that time it was narrated by Dustin Hoffman, and I really wish I could find it in it's original format. I loved it then and I've loved watching it with my son through his growing years, we still watch it together. It is so full of points, of course, even though there is often reference to so much pointlessness throughout the movie. Harry Nilsson's music is delightful as always. ... Read More
