Description: An amazing adventure teaches a young boy respect, kindness and the value of knowledge. What would it feel like to be a bird and fly over trees and housetops? A boy named Willy finds out when the Sparrow Guardian turns him into a sparrow for shooting a BB gun at the little birds! Suddenly, Willy’s own cat thinks of him as lunch but, luckily, some new sparrow friends rush to Willy’s rescue. They deliver him to a grandfatherly old bird named Cipur who takes Willy under his wing, teaches him how to fly, and so much more. In return, Willy fulfills Cipur’s lifelong dream for knowledge by teaching him how to read. Willy’s new friendships help him understand that all creatures have feelings and deserve to be treated with kindness and respect. Before Willy is turned back into a boy, he leads the sparrows in a brave but perilous plan to retake their home in the barn from Blacky the cat. Finally, the Sparrow Guardian offers Willy a very special opportunity.

Average Rating:
Rating: - One for the library.
What this film lacks in technology...it more than makes up for in just about every other area. It's a film my boys and I have enjoyed for over 9 years and we have shared it with many friends and family. In our opinion it is one of the best family films made. Appropriate and enjoyable for all ages.
Rating: - Wonderful surprise
Stumbled on this one in VHS at a garage sale, and couldn't be happier. True, it doesn't have top notch production, but the kids are thoroughly engaged with the positive message (the answer to "Why not pick on someone smaller than you?"). I'm getting it in DVD so that it will last.
Rating: - moral animation
my kids like most of the older disney movies, but it seems that the newer movies are borderline or outright offensive......... willy the sparrow is awesome for it's message, and while the animation can't compete with disney, the morals far exceed... we have enjoyed willy the sparrow many times over the past three years ...check out feature films for families
