Amazon.com:
Former Scotland Yard detective Albert Tyburn (Trevor Eve) finds himself in colonial Nairobi, the setting of Out of Africa, as head of a new criminal investigation unit. Imagine an athletic Hercule Poirot in the heat of the Kenyan sun. Superintendent Tyburn's unrelentingly independent policing style is remarkably effective against the murder, arson, blackmail, slave-trading, and other crimes that await him. The most serious impediments to Tyburn's investigations come from pompous Police Commissioner Ronald Burkitt (Michael Byrne) and the elitist, expatriate community's secret passions and vices. The outstanding cast includes Tyburn's talented crime-solving assistants, Constable Jonah Karinde (Freddie Annobil-Dodoo) and Assistant Superintendent James Valentine (Julian Rhind-Tutt), and his romantic interest, Emma Fitzgerald (Susannah Harker). The attractive, strong-willed biplane pilot Fitzgerald bears remarkable similarity to the real-life Beryl Markham, who recounted her experiences in West with the Night. The three episodes, 'Private Lives,' 'Hide in Plain Sight,' and 'The Sport of Kings,' are well written and action-packed. Mobil Masterpiece Theatre's Heat of the Sun will delight fans of fine detective work. --Tara Chace

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great mystery series!
First saw this series on public television's Mystery and loved it then. We were very pleased to buy it on DVD, and the set is most economical. The characters are great and well portrayed, with plenty of detection and mysteries going on. A great mystery series with interesting historical information delivered by the host Diana Rigg, at the beginning and end of each episode. Overall all, and excellent series!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great suspense / drama
This is an excellent series. The acting and writing are excellent. Great cast of characters. Those who thrive on "Lethal Weapon" blow-em-ups will be bored, but if you like period pieces along with some cerebral plotlines, this is for you. Trevor Eve is thoroughly believable and Susannah Harker is the kind of woman you'd want to know in 1930's Kenya.
Looks good in a dress and has her own plane.

If only she could cook!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Sexy Trevor Eve!
I watched this series when it was originally televised on PBS. I absolutely fell in love with Trevor Eve and never missed an episode! When watching another British show, several years later, I noticed Trevor Eve and remembered seeing him in "Heat" but could not remember the title. Thank goodness for the Internet. I searched and finally found the title and ordered it on DVD. I watched the entire series over and over. Great story and cast! Diana Rigg's introductions were full of historic information ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Heat of the Sun is Hot
The DVD "Heat of the Sun" is hot with great acting, writing, directing, screenplays and location. This series is one to watch over and over again. I wish they had made more episodes.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - All This and Diana Rigg Too!
"Heat of the Sun" is one of those mystery period pieces that I wanted to go on and on, and, alas, it ended too soon. One suspects that cost had something to do with its sudden demise, given the African settings and the exotic thirties' costumes.

"Heat of the Sun" is the perfect series to watch on a cold winter night. Trevor Eve makes an excellent Scotland-Yard-detective-in-exile and Susanna Harker is lovely as the young aviatrix. The mysteries are excellent, the characters are fascinating, the ... Read More
