It's really kind of sad how great movies such as this one get put on the "backburner". I have seen all of the movies of Sean Penn and Nicholas Cage, and this is by far the best movie that they have ever acted in. Elizabeth Mcgovern is perfect as Sean Penn's love interest and she plays her part beautifully. Uneven but generally engaging movie set in northern California in 1942 that is concerned with two 17-year-old boys about to join the marines and their last month at home together.
