Product Description:

You need multi-region PAL/NTSC DVD player to view it in USA/Canada: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Digital 2.0 ),Spanish ( Dolby Digital 2.0 ),Spanish ( Subtitles ),WIDESCREEN (1.85:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: Interactive Menu, Scene Access,SYNOPSIS: Though not as widely known as Hammer's popular Dracula and Frankenstein series, this is one of the studio's more stylish and intelligent projects. The tale is set in 17th century Serbia in the tiny burg of Stettel, whose residents live in fear of an encroaching plague. The frightened villagers welcome the arrival of a colorful traveling troupe dubbed 'Circus of Nights,' unaware that the visiting entertainers pose a far more deadly threat: the entire company is composed of shape-shifting vampires capable of transforming themselves into animals to stalk their prey. The group's leader, the most powerful monster of the bunch, has returned to the village to exact revenge on those who murdered his cousin one hundred years earlier. Less a standard Hammer monster melodrama than a surreal journey through dark fantasy (reminiscent of Jean Rollin's erotic vampire series), with an unexpected (but not entirely inappropriate) surplus of nudity and bloodletting. The film's creepy highlights include the chilling extended prologue and scenes of vampire trapeze performers transforming into bats in mid-leap.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - another fun vampire title from Hammer
VAMPIRE CIRCUS is another great early 70's title from Hammer Productions. Featuring a gangbusters cast and a solid story premise from screenwriter Judson Kinberg (based on the story by Wilbur Stark), it's one of the most hypnotic vampire tales you'll ever encounter.

In a small Serbian village, the townsfolk murder evil vampire Count Mitterhaus (Robert Tayman) after it's discovered he has been killing local children with the help of the schoolmaster's wife (Domini Blythe). Several years ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great 70's Vampire movie!
I remember watching this movie when I was a kid and I loved it. It was creepy, erie, and including the fact that the vampires traveled in a circus made it even more bizzare. I often look to amazon to maby one day see it released on dvd for us here in USA but no luck as of yet.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Movie
I watched this movie at a very young age and it really gave me a scare. If I ever come across this movie I will surely show my kids what they have missed in great movies.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Best Vampire film Hammer ever Produced
I have seen all of the vampire movies that Hammer has put out and this one ranks at the top. I do enjoy "some" of the Christopher Lee movies, Vampire Lovers, Twins of Evil and others, but the story and characters make this movie the top of the Hammer food chain. Vampire Circus is one helluva ride. If this movie ever gets put on dvd here in the U.S., I am definitely buying it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very Scary!!
Before House of Wax or Staying Alive or any of these movies came to theatre, this movie is what you will actually call horror in every sense of the word, believe me when I tell you that
