Description: Widely considered to be the Absolute Best Japanese Exploitation film!
Sex & Fury, one of the wildest, most violent, just-plain-entertaining Japanese sexploitation pictures from the 1970s stars smoldering young 'pinky violence' actress Reiko Ike (veteran of the Girl Boss aka Sukeban film series) as Ocho, a gambler and pickpocket in Meiji Era Tokyo. After sheltering a fleeing anarchist, Ocho encounters the three villains responsible for her father's murder, and runs afoul of various yakuza who want her dead. A European spy (beautiful Christina Lindberg, star of Thriller - A Cruel Picture), whose sadistic diplomat boss has his own nefarious plans, complicates matters. A riproaring action saga filled with beautiful bodies, bloody swordplay, and psychedelic imagery -- all beautifully photographed in a number of astonishing setpieces. Directed by Norifumi Suzuki (who fathered the Sukeban genre), Sex & Fury transcends the pop culture realm to achieve genuine art. Followed by the outrageous sequel, Female Yakuza Tale - Inquisition & Torture (also available from Panik House), it's the best film you've never seen!
Panik House is proud to present Sex & Fury: uncut, uncensored and totally restored from the original vault elements. Available for the first time anywhere on DVD!

Amazon.com: Only twelve minutes into Sex & Fury, our badass heroine Ocho (Reiko Ike) duels a dozen men in the snow with a samurai sword--stark naked! You can bet Quentin Tarentino watched a lot of 'Pinky Violence' flicks as he was working on Kill Bill. Ocho--gambler, pickpocket, and all-around babe--wants to avenge the murder of her father. She picks up their trail after helping a would-be anarchist assassin escape from the law, only to become embroiled in political machinations with a Western badass gambler/secret agent of dubious loyalty (Christina Lindberg, Thriller: A Cruel Picture, a.k.a. They Call Her One-Eye). You'd expect a movie like this to have a lot of lurid sequences but no plot to speak of; the particular glory of Sex & Fury is that lurid sequences abound--rape of a virgin, girl-on-girl action, garish spurting blood, a squad of switch-blade-wielding nuns (!)--and it has a coherent (if utterly preposterous) story. Ike, star of similar movies like Female Yakuza Tale: Inquisition and Torture and the Girl Boss series (all exemplary of the Japanese 'Pinky Violence' subgenre), is by turns vulnerable and tough as nails. Her powerful presence lifts Sex & Fury above mere sadistic kicks and gives it an actual emotional core, underscored with psychedelic guitar. --Bret Fetzer

Rating: - Brilliant
It has all the elements you should expect from this kind of movie. One of the early fight scenes in the snow clearly inspired Kill Bill Vol. 1. Very creative.
Rating: - If you're a fan of the genre...
If you like Ninja Wars, The Street Fighter, Sister Street Fighter, Lone Wolf & Cub, Sleepy Eyes of Death, Kage no Gundan, Lady Snowblood or even Kill Bill, chances are you'll accept Sex and Fury into your heart. This is 1970's sexploitation samurai swordplay at it's very best. Don't miss this one!
Rating: - Weak story and no action
If you are interested in the film, you may have heard of it in comparison to the suprerior Lady Snowblood featuring Kaji Meiko or worked backwards from Tarantino's Kill Bill. The main problem with this film and many Toei films of the 1970s is that it never delivers what it promises, action! In comparison to many other films of the this genre, in particular the Kaji Meiko films, it scores high marks for its aesthetics, design and camera work for those who are 1970s cult film buffs. Rating: - All time classic Japan 70's exploitation.
If you want to see action, sexy Asian girls, arterial spray and the lovely Christina Lindberg, then look no further. This is the one, along with "Zero Woman: Red Handcuffs"(the original), to see to get your friends into classic Japanese cinema from the 70's. Over the top madness, sexy, raunchy, lots of action and the gorgeous Ike Reiko make this one of the best films of the era. Not to mention, Christina Lindberg and the always wild Yoko Mihara are in the cast. And don't forget its sequel "Female ... Read More
Rating: - never realy takes off
It's not clear to me what some of the other reviewers saw in this movie, or whether we even saw the same movie. A contrived story of revenge with a convoluted storyline, sex scenes with actors that must have been cheap at the time, and (admittedly a lot) of poorly shot violence make a poor mix. It looks really dated and just doesn't come together. Its music score seems to come straight from a 'Shaft' film, but 'Sex and Fury' is not half as funny. With so many excellent Japanese movies to chose from ... Read More
