Amazon.com: The Addams Family Director Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black) brings his distinctly cartoonish sensibility to this feature film version of the old Charles Addams comic strip. Anjelica Huston was born to play Morticia Addams, matriarch of the ghoulish Addams clan, while the late Raul Julia is a very agreeable, lusty Gomez. But it's Christina Ricci who arguably steals the show as their stone-faced daughter, Wednesday. As is often the problem with adaptations of comics or television shows, somehow an original story has to be implemented that doesn't clutter things up. But clutter is an issue here as the script gets tangled on a lame plot concerning efforts to steal the Addams' house and fortune. Still, it's fun to see an ideal cast reanimate an old favorite. --Tom Keogh
The Addams Family Values This somewhat more cohesive follow-up to The Addams Family has the same director, Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black), but a better story line. Joan Cusack plays a busty gold digger who ingratiates herself into the Addams home and convinces Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd) that she wants to marry him. Besides Lloyd, the cast includes Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia, ideal as those Brontëan lovers, Morticia and Gomez. But Christina Ricci again walks away with the best moments as the chilly Wednesday Addams, making life miserable for two camp counselors (Peter MacNicol and Christine Baranski) who want her to fit in with other kids.--Tom Keogh

Rating: - Still hilarious
I loved these movies when they first came out, and they are just as good now. Campy fun! Laughed my butt off. Glad I purchased them in a fit of nostalgia - and very exciting they are on 1 DVD.
Rating: - Fantastic film
The Addams family were never funnier. Two movies on one disk! A great addition for any DVD library.
Rating: - Two shows to watch over and over!
I saw both of these movies in the theater, and bought them on VHS. I have no idea why it has taken me this long to replace them on DVD. Having both shows in one is BRILLIANT! It saves shelf space, and
watching one makes you want to watch the other. These movies gave
my entire family great pleasure, especially since we watched at Halloween.
My six year old niece is easliy frightened, so these movies were good
to toughen her for scarier fare. There are some ghoulish ... Read More
Rating: - Great value - and great entertainment!
Great value - two films on one disc. Great entertainment - bought in time for Halloween but great at any time. My 6-year old loved them especially the sequel due to the baby scenes - but they are loaded with one-liners for older viewers as well. Highly recommended.
Rating: - These have aged well
When these came out over 15 years ago they were very much mainstream events that seemed a bit over-hyped, and perhaps not as funny as you hoped. But either the world has changed, or surely I have, because they now seem witty and utterly hilarious. Perhaps I was looking for a goth-fest in the manner of Tim Burton at the time, but when you accept and engage with these as black comedy spectacles, you will have the time of your life. It's amazing now to see Carol Kane, virtually unrecognizable as Morticia's ... Read More
