Product Description:
Frank Castle (Thomas Jane) is a man who has seen too much death in his life first as a Delta Force Op and later as an FBI special agent. He has managed to beat considerable odds and is finally moving out of the field and into a normal life with his wife and son. On his final assignment Castle plays his undercover role perfectly but the operation spins out of control. This places the FBI on the wrong side of Tampa businessman Howard Saint (John Travolta) and his glamorous wife Livia (Laura Harring). Notwithstanding their glossy social profile the Saints are no genteel Florida couple; behind their copious wealth are violent beginnings underworld ties and a chilling capacity for brutality. Castle s worst nightmare is about to come true as Howard Saint and his lieutenants unleash hell at the Castle family reunion. But Castle to his everlasting torment survives. Drawing upon all he has learned in 20 years Castle sets in motion a brilliant plan to punish the murderers. He takes up residence among in a dilapidated tenement building on Tampa s industrial waterfront where his fellow tenants include Joan (Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) a waitress at a nearby diner who is trying to put her life back on track. Castle s neighbors become his last link to the idea of human community and warmth. It is this makeshift family forgotten men and women with no one to protect them - who enable Castle to find the one thing he least expects: redemption. The impressively muscular chest of Tom Jane is the focal point of The Punisher, a movie based on a Marvel Comics superhero. Frank Castle (Jane, Deep Blue Sea) retires from the FBI, which means--as any moviegoer expects--that his family is toast. Howard Saint (John Travolta, Face/Off), a shady Florida businessman whose son was killed in Castle's last mission, orders a hit not only on Castle's wife and child, but also on his parents and a whole bunch of aunts, uncles, cousins, and so forth. The killers shoot Castle himself in the chest, but he inexplicably survives and--as any moviegoer expects--sets out to even the score. Implausibly, given his sometimes curious and roundabout methods, he succeeds. Also featuring Will Patton (Armageddon) as an oily thug, Laura Harring (Mulholland Drive) as Saint's fleshpot wife, and Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (X-Men) as a waitress with bad taste in men. --Bret Fetzer

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Max Payne For Marvel Comics!!!
I like this movie because it reminds me a lot of one of my favorite games; Max Payne. Frank Castle is on his last mission, and kills the son of Howard Saint. Howard's wife tells him to kill Frank's family. I love the plot about Frank Castle punishing those who killed his family. It sucked that everyone in Frank's family died. EVERYONE! I love that skull shirt! Frank eventually becomes friends with Dave, Bumpo and Joan and moves in with them. While he's there, he plans his punishment against Howard ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Punisher Blu-Ray Review
Okay this was a good movie, not mind blowing, but definitely gritty. In my book, this deserved a sequel and not the train wreck that is "War Zone".

This release falls short.
LionsGate should have polished the film for the HD release. I imagine they ported the exact DVD release. There are no trailers or extras, just a "Blu-Ray Experice" trailer... probably the best looking part of this release.
Throughout the film I see grain, ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent!!!!!!!
Well, I am totally biased here on this movie. It was filmed in my hometown of Tampa. I still think it's an excellent movie though. Besides "The Dark Knight", this is my favorite comic book movie so far. I like the darkside of it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Castle for the timid
this movie was a big disappointment for me. it didn't have the extremes that i'm used to with the punisher. i actually prefer the punisher film starring Lundgren over this one because it had more action, but i wouldn't recommend it as a great film either. i like how the punisher's origin was done in the film starring Lundgren with flashbacks to show how he's tormented and how it drives him. the Lundgren version also has a comic book/campy feel to it that makes it more entertaining and enjoyable.
