Amazon.com:
The Celestine Prophecy is an action-adventure adaptation of the hit novel by James Redfield, a film that moves so swiftly it can be difficult at times to absorb the New Age philosophy tucked into Redfield's multiple, so-called Insights. Matthew Settle plays an American history teacher who travels to Peru to look into the discovery of an ancient manuscript that foretells the arrival of a new spirituality. The Peruvian government and Catholic church, threatened by something that might supplant traditional religion and mainstream values, harass and arrest the scientists and enlightened souls who discovered the manuscript. Our hero becomes involved in a dangerous effort to keep the document from official hands; along the way, he's introduced to the prophecy's major principles, which arouse his dormant spiritual abilities. Annabeth Gish, Hector Elizondo, and Jurgen Prochnow are a welcome presence in this light and sometimes confusing, if casually engaging work that requires repeat viewings to fully hear its interesting message. --Tom Keogh

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Luckily, I didn't read the book
I wasted only an hour and a half of my time instead. It's very funny that the majority of reviews here at Amazon are positive while over at Rottentomatoes it scored a rating of 4% positive by the professional reviewers--one of the lowest ratings I've seen there. Well, if this is your sort of thing, you may love it too--auras, synchronicity, and a vacuous New Age spiritual revelation.

Be amazed as our hero travels deep into the rebel-infested rainforest to the Malibu suburb of the Peruvian ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Everybody Should See This Movie!
I haven't read the book but I saw the DVD and decided to take a chance on it.It was amazing forget the secret this movie gave me that tingly feeling like when I hear an amazing piece of music or something.I'm so glad I took a chance on this movie even though I wasn't really interested in the book even though I'd heard good things about it.See this movie then tell all your friends to do the same!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - new beginning
i would read the book first and then watch the movie, the book is better but the movie gives you more of a reality picture of what you can see and do. I have recieved so much more insights to things in life. the movie is very helpful.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - gets the message across
The book changed my thinking when it came out years ago and so I was excited to see it on DVD. It appears to be a low budget movie but it gets the message across. I have enjoyed it enough to have watched it a few times.
I even bought it for my best friend before her trip to Peru.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Well.......
I read and enjoyed the book and was very much looking forward to seeing the movie.
I think it lost something in the translation.
However if you've not read the book, you might enjoy it.
Rent it first. Or better yet, if you haven't already, read the book.
