Amazon.com: The Care Bears were a line of multicolored teddy bears that racked up more than $200 million in retail sales in 1984. The Care Bears Movie was essentially a 75-minute commercial to introduce the new Care Bear Cousins, disguised as a smarmy story about sharing feelings. The film earned $23 million theatrically and ushered in a spate of cheap animated films created to sell merchandise to children. The plot interweaves the stories of Kim and Jason, two lonely orphans who have given up caring, and of Nicholas, a friendless magician's assistant who's seduced by an evil spirit. The Care Bears resolve everyone's problems. Years later, the Care Bears' popularity has waned and the film stands as a reminder of one of the less admirable uses of animation. The stars, hearts, rainbows, and saccharine songs can't disguise the barefaced commercialism behind the threadbare story. --Charles Solomon

Rating: - Care Bears Movie
I remember watching this with my children when it first came out on VHS format. They both loved it and watched it all the time. It was their favorite movie until they discovered Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now that my children are gown, I have discovered the movie in DVD and have given it to my granddaughter. She absolutely loves it and drives her mother (my daughter) as crazy wanting to watch it again and again, as she did when she was little. I highly recommend this movie for the younger aged ... Rating: - A little too scary
I remember watching the carebears from my chidhood thinking they were not so bad, but unfortunately in this movie my son tends to get scared by the evil book and spirit. He cannot watch this movie alone it is too intense for a little mind.
Rating: - The Care Bears Movie
This item I purchased for a Christmas gift for my niece (age 3)and my nephew (age 1). When my children were little they really enjoyed this movie about the care bears so I thought it would be nice for my niece and nephew. All little children whether it is either a boy or girl like teddy bears.
Rating: - good movie, good message
wow, interesting description by amazon. all i can say is that i loved care bears as a child and my daughter is obsessed with them now. these cartoons teach kids to have faith in themselves and to care for others, which is more than can be said for many of the violence based cartoons coming out nowadays. who cares if the main focus was to sell products isn't that the same deal with most of the cartoons out today, especially with all the collector card shows they have. carebears is entertaining and ...
