Amazon.com: For those who believe true love lasts beyond this physical plane, P.S. I Love You is a jewel in the romantic-movie crown. With elements of Ghost, Heaven Can Wait, and My Life, the film is an unabashed valentine to the notion of lasting (everlasting?) love. Hilary Swank is Holly, a deeply happy lass married to the most impossibly adorable Irishman on the planet, Gerry (Gerard Butler). When an illness takes him from her, Holly spirals into depression. Then, as if from beyond the grave, communications, gifts, and remembrances from Gerry begin to appear--gestures he'd planned knowing his death was coming. The 'communications' with her dead husband could threatened to keep Holly in past, yet they begin to pave a path into her future.
Swank, not a traditional romantic actress, is quite moving as Holly, whose grief and confusion is palpable. Butler will win new continents of fans, largely female, as the yummiest honey one could wish for. Special kudos to the supporting cast, including Lisa Kudrow as a Holly pal, and James Marsters and Kathy Bates, always breaths of fresh air onscreen. Under the sure hand of director-writer Richard LaGravenese, P.S. I Love You is touching, sad (have tissues on hand), and heartbreakingly lovely. --A.T. Hurley

Rating: - A nice romantic film
PS I Love You is a bitersweet love story. It is one of those films which you watch with a tear in your eyes and a wisp of a smile on your face.
Holly Kennedy (Hilary Swank0 has lost her husband (300's Gerald Butler). As she is in mourning over his loss, she recieves letters from her dead husband. From these letters, she starts to break out of her shell of widowhood.
With the help of her Girlfriends (Gina Gersion and Lisa Kudrow) and her mom (Kathy Bates), Holly starts to ... Read More
Rating: - Well done!
This movie was so well done! The casting for each role was perfect. Gerard Butler was charming (as usual!) and Hillary Swank totally believeble. Just a well written, wonderfully performed story. Worthy of any DVD library. Also see Gerard Butler in Nim's Island! Another great movie. P.S. I Love You is a keeper. You'll watch it many times.
Rating: - P.S. - This film is boring!
I don't know where to start. This movie could have been good. It was a nice departure from the regular happy-ever-after tear jerkers we normally get from the studios these days. Unfortunately, there really wasn't a story. Well, not a believable one, anyway.
Hillary Swank was horribly miscast. She is not the least bit feminine, and I think the movie makers realized this because they spent far too much time having her prance around in her undergarments trying to convince us otherwise. ... Read More
Rating: - Great cast, pot holes in the story
************ SPOILER **************
First is my disclaimer: I am indeed a "chick" and needed a good cry and a good laugh when I rented this.
I perpetually resist the nudges of my good girlfriends to dive into your typical girl movies. This one, however, was too tempting to leave on the shelf. The cast alone drew me in and I was not disappointed by their performances. Some inconsistencies in the story, however, pockmarked them.
