Although this extremely stylish haunted spaceship movie may be guilty of ripping off half a dozen better films (including Don't Look Now, Hellraiser, and especially Andrei Tarkovsky's great Solaris), it's difficult to deny the gothic razorblade effectiveness of the end result. Not a 'fun' film by any stretch of the imagination, but a thrillingly ruthless shocker that may leave more susceptible viewers in need of a long shower and a high-voltage night-light. Just what I was promised from Amazon and could not find this even at Blockbuster or Wal Mart.
Rating:  - Event Horizon: Worth a second chance
When I first saw the movie in theaters, I was disappointed by it after being hyped up by various movie sites and magazines. I was waiting for this one with bated breath and when I finally saw it, I was simply let down. It didn't really do it for me for various reasons, the main one being that the film felt somewhat mangled, as if they cut out all the gore that had been promised and excised what were probably important parts of the plot as well.

If you folded space to where point A (your current location) and point B (your desired destination) are within a few thousand miles instead of light years apart and, then, made the jump between space...well, what would you pass through? This is one of the best Sci FI Horror Movies of all time... It has such a mood to it, and is genuinely scary. I just hope they have remastered it to give it a great Blu-Ray transfer.

This is a great film which is not worthy of the a lot of the bad reviews that it has gotten here. It's an excellent blend of science fiction and traditional horror fantasy that provides a tense atmosphere that holds up throughout the entire movie. It rarely shows you the "why", rather showing you the aftermath of what has happened which is a main part of the story and of good film making.
