Rating: - dvd might have been defective
This is an excellent movie, but the dvd inexplicably "stalled" in the middle of the movie. I had to fast-forward to see the rest of the movie. I have yet to go back and replay it to see if it will play all the way through, so there is still part I have missed.
Rating: - A Man for All Seasons Review
Good Quality. I just had to clean the disc. The Movie kept skipping around and stopping. After I cleaned it ,it was great to sit and watch.
Rating: - The King's good servant, but God's first
This is one of my top 5 favorite movies. St Thomas More's life proved that some principles are worth dying for and reminds one of Christ's warning: What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul? Paul Scofield is great as St. Thomas, and the final trial scene features especially good acting and rhetoric.
Rating: - A FILM FOR ALL YEARS
A Man for All Seasons is superb story telling. Excellent performances and a script that is neither condescending or 'playing to the lowest common denominator' brings over the horror of the politics of Henry's court.
Paul Schofield is simply stunning and it is a film that rewards on countless viewings. I cannot recommend it too highly.
Rating: - Best Ever
Great bargain, great flick.
In my opinion this is one of the best movies ever made and it should rank right up there with Becket, Lion in Winter (the original with Kate Hepburn, Casablanca, and Citizen Kane.
