Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Another great show held captive by the RIAA lawyers
Special excerpts and clip collections are all we in the U.S.A. will probably ever see of Ally McBeal on DVD due to the large incorporation of popular music in the show. Many episodes of Ally had the closing ten minutes or so set in the bar where Vonda Shepard and guests such as Barry White would belt out popular, and unfortunately, copyrighted music. This makes DVD sets of entire seasons a licensing nightmare. Since Ally was in production from 1997 until 2002, just prior and a little bit after the advent of TV on DVD, this probably did not figure into the calculation of Fox as to how this would turn into a legal quagmire that could not be overcome. The same problem probably exists for "WKRP in Cincinnatti" and "Daria".

The clips are OK, but it just doesn't measure up to having entire episodes of this quirky unique series. In closing, kudos to the RIAA for employing all of those lawyers, suing all of those pesky teenage downloaders of music, and .... what is it you do again for the artists themselves????

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Ally McBeal Complete Series
The Ally McBeal series was one of my favorite shows ever. I wanted to have the complete series but it is not available in the U.S. However, it is available in England (amazon.co.uk) and I bought the complete 5 season set. I knew it was coded for Region 2 (Europe) and would not play on DVD's sold here, so I bought a Code Free/Region Free DVD player and recorder for about $200 and now can enjoy the series from start to finish. Region/Code free DVD's are available on the Internet and are a great deal. If you really like Ally as much as I do and are annoyed you cannot buy the entire series here to play on your current DVD, buy it from England and get yourself a Region/Code Free player or player recorder at a reasonable cost.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - What the f___ is this bulls___? WHERE ARE THE SEASON SETS?!
An ex-girlfriend of mine loved this show and taped it 'cos she loved it so much. I have to admit I liked it too. Great stories, acting, humor. Also got to hear some terrific music from Vonda Shepard. Don't be a fool and buy this. Fans have waited LONG ENOUGH. There's been plenty of time to get music clearances settled, and TCFHE needs to keep this in mind or they can go f___ themselves: the show was shot in widescreen toward the end of its run and it better be issued that way IF it ever gets a domestic release. No widescreen, no sale - simple as that.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Ally's A Tease
The few episodes on this DVD serve only to leave wanting what is not there for us, the BEST of Ally McBeal. Although entertaining, the best of Ally and the gang was to come in the following seasons. Where are they? When are they? Somebody do something.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Ally McBeal - Ally on Sex and the Single Life (1997)
I love it!! This is just what you need after a long day at the office!
