Rating: - Another Jane Austen hit...
I have always loved this story and starring actors Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds only add to the loveliness of the tale. Highly recommended.
Rating: - Persuasion
Another favorite version of Jane Austen's classics. True to the original novel. Strong characters. Pleasurable viewing. I prefer this rendition to the others I own.
Rating: - Nice adaptation
While a shortened version of the BBC version, it followed the book fairly well and the cast was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed the video. Wonderful period movies.
This one and others of Jane Austen actually had me reading more on the culture of the society for that period of time.
Rating: - GO JANE AUSTEN
Jane Austen was meticulous and methodical. Her stories start with a slowness and want of action that tempt one to think nothing is developing. Readers of Jane Austen know better. So with this marvelous story. My hat is off to the directing, and especially to the cinematography. Look for the complex long scenes that are done in a single take. That is art. Enjoy.
Rating: - Most mature Austen
Of all the Austen books Persuasion (Penguin Classics) is my favorite. Her last book, it also contains her most mature love story and has been wonderfully transfered to the screen in this film. I believe that this is one of the most touching and romantic movies ever made, despite (or perhaps because of?) the restrained nature of the period and main characters. One of my absolute favorites and a definite classic.
