Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Persuasion
This movie starts off slow but is an excellent adaptation of Jane Austen's written work. I love the fact that not every actor is drop dead gorgeous...and the prelude to the kiss was fantastic! Anyone with a love of Jane Austen will love this movie!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Best Version
Persuasion is my favorite Jane Austen story and I am very thankful that at least this book got a great adaptation on film.

Amanda Root was just so perfect for the role. Anytime I read Persausion, I see her as Anne Elliot. As Anne changes before the viewer's eyes, Root changes somehow that is noticeable to the audience and makes it seem flawless and real. Ciaran Hinds as Wentworth cannot be matched either. The two acted very well together and did the Austen classic justice. The supporting cast also portrayed the supporting charcters true to the book.

This version is the best one out there, thus far. Any fan of the book Persuasion should at least give this one a try and see for yourself. Coming from someone whose favorite Austen book is Persuasion, I was not disappointed one bit. It actually made me love the book even more.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Beautiful Version

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best Persuasion Available!
Hands down this is the best adaptation of Jane Austin's Masterpiece "Persuasion". All the actors and the sets costumes ect...The new Persuasion is excellent too, but if you want a version faithful to the book you need to buy this one. It is absolutley breathtaking. Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds were born for the roles. They have wonderful chemestry. Your heart beats with Ann's when she sees Captain Wentworth for the 1st time in 7 years you can hardly breath! You can feel his pain when he expresses himself at the dinner at her home over his disappointment 7 years eariler. The conversation is public but it's really a private message from him to her. I cannot reccomend this movie enough. If you have read the book you must see this movie. It is the book!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Lovely, Lovely
Persuasion is my favorite Jane Austen book at this time in my life and this movie represents it beautifully. They met. They fell in love. She broke it off. She regrets it. He comes back. Can they have a second chance? What more can you ask for? This is a British period piece, so the accents can be strong at times...be prepared. Also, it is not exactly like the book, a good reproduction, but not the same page for page. That shouldn't turn you off of the movie though. Nothing is ever as good as the original, but this movie does a decent job trying. Finally, don't expect twenty-somethings acting in this movie. If you want a younger cast, find the PBS/BBC version of Persausion. This movie is acted in by seasoned actors who also played the roles on stage. They know their characters and are very good at bringing them to life.
