Rating:  - I'm your huckleberry
I've read some on the life and times of the Earp clan. I'm not a historian mind you, but I know enough to understand that the Earps spent a good deal of time on both sides of the law, and that they went wherever opportunity and adventure took them. They were also tight as a family could be, and looked out for one another. Despite some historical inaccuracies, this movie portrays the Earps well, in a fair-handed manner.
If only Kurt Russell could recapture some of the magic of this performance, he could have a respectable career again. He needs to look for more roles like this. The scene of his warning to the cow-boy gang before the vendetta ride was awesome.
Val Kilmer's portrayal of Doc Holliday was fantastic. I have never seen anybody look so sickly throughout a movie before. He was pale and sweating like a pig throughout, yet nobody messed with him because death sat at his side. And he could unleash it.
This is a fine western with an all-star cast. Don't miss it.

I have loved this movie since it came out. Its even better in the directors cut,as there are quite a few scenes that were not in the original.
Rating: - Tombstone, the best !!
Tombstone is, so far, the best and most accurate depiction of the Tombstone and later life of Wyatt Earp and the life and times of the era. There are a few inaccuracies in the plot, but not enough to keep a viewer from getting the whole picture. The cast was well chosen, to fit each role like a glove.
Since both movies, WYATT EARP with Kevin Cosner and TOMBSTONE, came out the same year, Tombstone has the slight edge over it's competitor. Both movies, though, displayed particular situations that are historic, that the other did not.
Over all.... 5 stars. I watch it over and over again.

This,in my estimation,is one of the best Cowboy ie; "Westerns" ever made. The story line stays as close to History as possible and has a lot of humor, or tongue in cheek, from Val Kilmer et; Doc Holiday.A great cast and filmed manificiently. If you haven't seen it get it, if you have, get it for your library and watch it again, it's a great DVD.

IF YOU LOVE COWBOYS, GUNS, SHOOTING..AND MORE GUNS AND SHOOTING, THIS MOVIE IS FOR YOU. EXCELLENT STORY, GREAT ACTORS: KURT RUSSELL AND VAL KILMER AMONG OTHERS. YOU'LL FEEL YOU'RE IN THE OLD WEST WHILE WATCHING IT. A MUST FOR YOUR COLLECTION "A CLASSIC". BASED IN REAL EVENTS.
