Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Great Movie!
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is beautifully acted. The little girls are charming & the other actors do a wonderful job as well. The fact that it is a true story make it even more memorable!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Pleasant, But Its Not "A True Story"
This is a very lovely and appealing retelling of the story of the Cottingley Fairies, a famous case of the paramormal which began when two young girls claimed to have taken pictures of fairies near their beck or creek in the town of Cottingley, in Yorkshire. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle became interested in the case, and for a few years the Fairies caused quite a sensation. In the 1980s the two young girls, by now elderly women, confessed that they had made the whole thing up using paper cut outs for the fairies.

This film has some very beautiful scenes of the English countryside and depicts the storyline romantically and somewhat exagerratedly, but does a good job of linking the desire to believe in fairies to the stress so many people were under during World War I. Who wouldn't want to believe in another, fantastical and beautiful world when all the news in your own is bad? I enjoyed the film and I'll watch it again for the beautiful scenery and the enchantment of the story (the fairies are extremely well done), but I'll also have to remember that the reality is considerably more prosaic.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Beautifully Done
This is a wonderful film and not just for fairy lovers. It has exquisite scenery, costuming, beautiful cinematography, and great special effects. The acting is also good, all of the actors, but I especially like Harvey Keitel. The beauty and magic of the movie is in the details such as tiny people and horses, waterfalls, fairy rings and, of course, the fairies themselves.

I think this would appeal to anyone who likes magic and wonder, and not just those of us fixated on fairies. Even if this story is based on a hoax of history, it is still fantastic. I think it is good for people to believe in magic, even if some of the magic isn't real. They do explore illusions in this movie, which is interesting.

For people like me, who love fairies, I have discovered a new fairy series called The Fairy Chronicles that I think is wonderful and enchanting, and very different from other fairy books I have read. This is the first book in the series.Marigold and the Feather of Hope, The Journey Begins (The Fairy Chronicles)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wonderful Movie, one of my all time favorites
Absolutely one of my all time favorites. The cast is truly remarkable, a varitable "who's who" of British Character Actors, not to mention a few other surprises- Harvey Kietel is amazing as Harry Houdini. The young ladies in the cast are perfect in their period innocence and awe. A wonderful movie that has me believing all over again.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great for both parents and kids!
Based upon a true story, this is one of the few films that will both hold the attention of adults and the kids will love it as well.

During the early 20th Century, two little girl cousins who are brought together to live in the scenic English coutryside both believe in faeries. Why? Because they've seen them!!!

After the girls manage a photograph of the faeries at a nearby waterfall, the photos are proclaimed genuine by experts and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes author and occultist) and Harry Houdini travel to the girls' home to investigate further.

Naturally, there's an evil reporter who wants to exploit the situation but the faeries (as well as a "dead" brother to one of the girls) deal with him pretty effectively and hilariously.

You'd have to be a real Grinch to not love this unique and well-executed film. The cinematography is superb -- my highest recommendation!
