Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - 17 Fleischer and Famous Studios Popeye shorts
FLEISCHER STUDIOS produced Popeye cartoons from 1933 to '42, when Paramount's FAMOUS STUDIOS animation department took over the series and Fleischer's operation. Popeye was originally voiced by Billy Costello, who was replaced (due to his erratic behavior) by former animator, Jack Mercer. Olive was portrayed by many women-- the best-known being Mae Questal (who was also Betty Boop).

Featured on this single disc are the contents of two separate GOOD TIMES VIDEO DVDs. Also available from them is a triple-play DVD of FLEISCHER and FAMOUS STUDIOS cartoons. It's called: BETTY BOOP AND THE GIRLS OF MISCHIEF/THE BEST OF BETTY BOOP/GABBY AND HIS GULLIBLE FRIENDS.
