Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Gem. A Truly Special Movie.
1984's "Ghostbusters" is not only one of the greatest comedies, but one of the best movies ever made. Armed with an amazing cast of comedic talents, a solid storyline, and great special effects, "Ghostbusters" is a truly magical movie.

Three scientists, Pete Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis), who specialize in paranormal activity, get fired from their jobs at a renowned New York college. Desparate for some dough, they start their own business, Ghostbusters. At firs, business runs a little slow, until a New York apartment dweller named Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver) discovers her refrigerator is a portal to a spiritual dimension ruled by the evil demon Zule. With news of this, their business takes off, as does a relationship with Dr. Venkman and Dana. However, when a sleazy social inspector named Walter Peck challenges the legal matters of their business, the Ghostbusters soon find their business out of operation, and it couldn't be at a worse time, as both Dana and her bumbling neighbor Louis Tully (the always wonderful Rick Moranis) have been possessed by these demons, who are now planning to destroy New York. It is up to the Ghostbusters to stop these dastardly demons before it's too late.

This is is an unforgettable movie. The performances, especially Murray's are wonderful. Never has any actor (with the exception of Weaver in the first two "Alien" movies) been better. The story and the special effects are dazzling, and this is definitely a film that belongs in your dvd collection.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Who are you going to call... Ghostbusters!!
OOOO spooky, well not really but it is funny.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of Bill Murray's Best (or his best)
I'd have to say, Ghostbusters I is still an old favorite. Bill Murray was/is terrific in this; this is his funniest comedy to date. The script was original, the music had good beats, and dialogue snappy. The story actually made sense (unlike GB II) and the suspense of Gozer made me feel like New York City, the world, the Ghostbusters themselves were in big time trouble.

Quite an excellent movie and is a timeless classic. they should NOT make another GB sequel, please, Harold Ramis, Ivan Reitman, do us a favor and yourselves a favor--DON't do another Ghostbusters movie!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - One of my favorite movies
Ghostbusters is a true comedy classic that aged pretty well. I mean I saw it when I was little, yet if it's on tv it entertains me as much as the first time I saw it. It has great dialogue with Bill Murray in great form delivering classic one-liners. It makes me wish that the sequel was this much fun. The chemestry between the actors weren't bad in the sequel but here they just have better material to work with. I mean what's more ingengious and original as a villian, a grouchy guy in a painting or a giant mashmellowman ? I'd choose the mashmellowman.

Plus the ghost that slimes "referred to as Slimer in the cartoon series" people is pretty wasted in the sequel. Here it's pretty classic and funny when he slimes Peter "Bill Murray" and his friends Egon and Ray are more excited about it than they're upset. Plus there's hardly any scene in a movie as funny as Peter's crush played by Sigourney Weaver being possessed. Murray's lines in that scene are just plain brilliant and hilarious. Ghostbuster's 1 has Murray in top form when part 2 just doesn't give him or anyone else that much to work with.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - "Yes it's true; this man has no dick."
Academic parapsychologists (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis) find themselves out of work due to budget constraints. They ban together to form a company that to form a badly needed service. They become ghost busters. We follow them from their humble beginnings to their meteoric rise to new heights.

On the way we see what may be a blooming love story staring a possessed Sigourney Weaver (of "Alien" 1979 fame). There is also a token appearance by the Staypuff man. And who is the key master.

Lost of fun classic that was a first of its kind. There have been many stories similar but the combination of characters and actors is unique.

Even today you hear "Who ya gonna call?"
