Rating:  - Sky Captain
This is such a fun movie. After watching the movie and then the special features on how the movie was made, my appreciation of the movie increased. The dialog is sassy and fun. I thought it was great. A cross between Indiana Jones and Flash Gordon. Great job!
Rating:  - See, It `s All In The Math.
I give it 5 Stars for the Digital Effects, minus 3 Stars for a silly, implausable, disjointed, badly conceived plot.
Add 4 Stars because someone at Paramount took a big chance on a new director and new technology.
NOTE To Mr. Conran: If your going to make Retro Films, based on Comics/`30`s Film Serials, please watch " Sin City " and all the " Raiders of the Lost Ark " films at least 10 times before your next project.
Subtract 5 Stars because Low Energy Jude Law was a poor choice for a Macho Tough Guy Hero. Minus 8 Stars due to Gwyneth Paltrow`s incrediably annoying impersonation, hair style and all, of Kate Hepburn`s wisecracking Chick in too many better Movies to list.
Note To Ms. Paltrow: Your no New England Patrician Airhead who made a career playing Herself. Please fire your agent NOW and go back to serious drama. ( Besides, Howard Hughes is reported to be still Dead )
Where was I , oh yeah !!...plus 8 points for Angelina Jolie, for just being there, with all that Energy amidst that plastic cast ! In fact it would have been a far better Movie with Tough Gal Capt. Franky Cook as the Hero and Law as the sidekick.
Plus 2 Points because it inspired me to write this fun, lightweight Review of a not very good, lightweight movie.

Rating: - Despite the female star
This movie harks back to good old cliffhanger style movies. I didn't think the chemistry was there between the lead actors.I also didn't really like the female character and it wouldn't have bothered the story much at all if she hadn't been in it. Otherwise i found it enjoyable and fun to watch.

If you missed this movie - now is the time to try it in HD! Shame that the movie failed at the box office, but it's good to own it now in Blu Ray. Nice transfer, though the movie itself is very soft visioned, so you won't get this very special sharpness feeling (like i.e. with Mi:3)
Rating: - poor acting but effects are good
THe story is not bad but the acting is quite poor. On the other hand the high definition picture makes up for them and this movie can be enjoyable
