Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Simply A Beautiful Film
For me Blade Runner was a movie-lover's perfect escape, like stepping into someone elses dream. Quiet and effective, the soundtrack allowed me to become more emersed in the images of the story. I hear all the time that this film lacks relevance or meaning. I did see a few particular points that Ridley Scott, Philip K. Dick or David Peoples may have been going for. I like fantasy and science fiction and what I think both genres do best is exercise the imagination and inspire other story-tellers to do the same. I saw Blade Runner as a statement on where the country and perhaps the world might be heading in terms of population and population density, our right to privacy and dependence on technology as well as the judgement of its use. I think Blade Runner, like 2001: A Space Odyssey or A.I.: Artificial Intelligence or Minority Report, is merely a prediction of the future from a certain point of view, that's all. Its not a family flick or something you'd normally watch with your girl friend but best to watch by yourself because its the kind of film that requires that you concentrate on what the story is saying visually as much as verbally; there are many moments in which if you take your eyes off the screen for a split second, you could miss something important that the shot or scene was trying to convey. But anyway, Blade Runner is brilliant, its among the greatest science fiction films ever made and if you're reading reviews because you haven't seen it yet, don't believe the negative ones that no doubt are the consensus.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - As described
It was received as described. I was looking for this edition in other places and found here in Amazon. Good price and excellent delivery service.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The best science fiction movie ever made
Bladerunner, another extremely influential science fiction movie based on Dick's "Do androids dream of electronic sheep," tells the now classic tale of Dekkard, a Bladerunner, a highly trained assassin whose job is to 'retire' rouge Replicants, or biological androids. What sets this film apart is it's atmosphere, aided by near perfect art direction and spot on details. The new 5 DVD set, complete with a remastered HD version of the film that was created using the 4k original film reels, is simply a must have for any science fiction film fan.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - excllent set for en excellent movie
Finally, BR fans can watch ALL FIVE different versions of this movie.

I longed for seeing the "International" cut again, after having viewed it repeatedly on cable in the 80's. This version has a few more violent scenes than the theatrical version. It also has the narration by Harrison FOrd, which I personally liked b/c it gave the film a friendlier feel, made Deckard almost certainly "human", and has the so-called "happy ending".

The Final Cut is great technically b/c the audio & video are enhanced & updated with modern technology that makes it a pleasure to watch & hear. However, this version makes fairly clear that Deckard was indeed a replicant, which is a notion I initially scoffed at & rejected. However, when director Ridley Scott says, in the commentary track & elsewhere in the DVD set, that his intention was to have Deckard be a replicant, then that's the way it is. If you can accept this fact, then you will LOVE the Final Cut version of BR.

If you still prefer Deckard be a human, then you can still enjoy the 1982 International Version.

The other discs are excellent, discussing the making of BR, the cult status it has achieved, etc. Nothing but great background & interviews throughout this DVD set.

The 5th disc gives you a 5th version of BR which, although of poor visual quality, has some different scenes in it & different dialogue.

You also get a silver unicorn replica & police spinner car replica for buying the 5-disc set.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A PIECE OF ART

I was a teenager when BLADE RUNNER was on Madrid's movie theaters. One Sunday I went to the theater and the film was retired! I had to wait two years and I saw the VHS at last. I bought Director's Cut DVD at the begining of this Century but this edition is impossible to overcome!
