Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Half season sets
Just wait if they ever release the hour long episodes they'll probably divide them into 4 volumes. What I don't understand is if the dvd's aren't selling well enough why don't they produce less?

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great show, but only mediocre release.
I admit that I do not care for split-season sets, but as many other reviewers have noted, some is better than none. However, as far as the episodes themselves go, they are excellent. In the show's second season, it ranked in the top ten most watched shows on television. The second season was also when the show became increasingly better. Even greater acting, action, scripts, and direction. The only problem with this set is it does not have enough episodes. It is a slap in the face to all the fans of Gunsmoke, and classic television in general. With this new idea of releasing each season in two volumes at different times, fans will have to wait that much longer for their favorite episodes to be released. But true fans like myself will always purchase them no matter how they are released, because we love the show. Below is a list of all the episodes in this 3-disc set.

1. COW DOCTOR

2. BRUSH AT ELKADER

3. CUSTER

4. THE ROUND-UP

5. YOUNG MAN WITH A GUN

6. INDIAN WHITE

7. HOW TO CURE A FRIEND

8. LEGAL REVENGE

9. THE MISTAKE

10. GREATER LOVE

11. NO INDIANS

12. SPRING TERM

13. POOR PEARL

14. CHOLERA

15. PUCKET'S NEW YEAR

THIS REVIEW IS DEDICATED TO ANYONE, LIVING OR DEAD, INVOLVED IN THE MAKING OF "GUNSMOKE".

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best TV Western
Gunsmoke is hands down the best western tv series of all time. Even
though greedy Paramount Studios only put half of the episodes from
season 2 on this disc, it's still more entertaining than most of the
things you see on tv these days. The remastering of the picture and
sound are excellent. So saddle-up with Matt, Chester, Doc and Miss Kitty
and enjoy.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - classic tv at best
I saw these shows with my family when they were first shown. They were funny and very realistic of what hard times people had to pursue during the 1880's. You see the romance of Mattr and Kitty and the charcters of Chester and Doc. Keep an eye open for future oscar winners getting their start on tv. The black and white is digital perfect. The bonus is commercials of cig. adds.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fond Memories
I was about 10-12years of age when I first began to watch Gunsmoke on TV
and have been watching episodes every since. Born 1946, I'm 62 now and
proud to have a collection of my childhood western hero showing better
now on CD's than that old B/W set in the 1950's. I intend to get all
volumes until the collection is completed.
